Gerald Durrell was born in Jamshedpur, India in 1925, in 1928 his family returned to England, eventually opting to setle instread on the island of Corfu where they lived tuil 1939. Here he made a study of zoology, and kept a large numvber of local wild animals as pets. This book is one of the many anthologies of his abnimal experiences iun his lifetime.
