This is the very best introduction to Greek mythology that a young person could have. It is not simply an anthology, but a story book, with an idea behind it. The author has retold many unfamiliar myths and has told in their entirety many that are usually only partially told. She has selected only those that have to deal with the origin of the mythalogical gods and has emphasised the aspects that make clear the story which is her theme - that of man's growth from a lump of clay created by Prometheus, to a thinking, intelligent, sensitive being symbolised by Psyche.
